Customize Your Toshiba Phone System

Toshiba is the leading manufacturer of VoIP equipment and solutions. If you are using Toshiba Strata CIX40 handsets and telephony then it is good to know your settings options. Once you know the different types of settings you will be able to change the time, set customized ringtones and even customize call forwarding. Here is a list of some popular settings that can help improve your Toshiba Strata CIX40 system.

Changing The Time

  • #,6,5,2 (You will hear 3 quick beeps as confirmation.)
  • Enter time in military format: HH:MM:SS (Example: 1, 7, 3, 0, 0, 0 is 5:30 PM)
  • # (You will hear 3 slow beeps as confirmation.)

In case you are not able to locate the buttons on your handset, you will need to enlarge the info displayed.

Changing the Date

  • #, 6, 5, 1 (You will hear 3 quick beeps as confirmation.)
  • Enter YY:MM:DD (For example, 1, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1 is December 31, 2014.)
  • # (You will hear 3 slow beeps as confirmation.)

Changing the Ringtone

If you wish to change the ringtone from 01 (Internal) and 11 (external) press the following buttons:

  • Press #9876 to get to the user programming mode
  • Press the Intercom, Line1, 2 or 3 buttons (choose the ringtone that you want to set)
  • Enter the code for the new ring tone (see table below)
  • Press the Intercom, Line1, 2, or 3 button again to save.
  • Disconnect the call.

Toshiba Tone Table

In order to change the ringtone for the calls from an extension, line or contact. To set the ringtone:

  • Press #9876 to get to the User Programming Mode
  • Press a Line or extension button. The LED is steady green.
  • You will have to Hold to swap internal and external pitch. (Internal calls are the ones within the system; external are the calls from outside)
  • Enter the two-digit pitch number (refer the above table).
  • Press the same button that you pressed in Step 2 (Line or extension). Two beeps provide the confirmation and “DATA PROGRAMMED” displays on your LCD.
  • You will have to lift handset off-hook/on-hook in order to save settings.

Setting the Speed Dial Numbers

The CIX40 handsets are able to store a total of 99 numbers for speed dials where the codes range from 100-199. You will even be able to assign names to speed dial numbers. Here is how you can carry out the process:

  • Press #66
  • Press 9
  • Provide the number that you wish to save (i.e. 4987986)
  • Press # to save.
  • Hang up or press the speaker button.
  • For saving more numbers on speed dial, keep repeating the process.

NOTE: You can store speed dials to the system by selecting speed dial numbers 200-999, but you will need system permission in order to do so.

Assigning Names

You will even be able to assign names to the speed dial numbers. Just click on the name instead of remembering the speed dial number. The ‘MDirectory’ on your phone stores all the speed dial numbers and names. Here is how you can assign names:

  • Press #9876 to get into the user programming mode
  • Press Spdial to enter speed dial programming.
  • Enter the speed dial number you wish to add to (100-199)
  • Press the Speaker button.
  • Now enter the name by pressing the key on your phone’s keypad.
  • Press Spdial to save.
  • Hang up or press the speaker button.

NOTE: You can assign names to the system by selecting speed dial numbers 200-999, but you will need system permission in order to do so.

Immediate Call Transfer

  • You need to press the TRNS Soft Key
  • Now dial the number to which you want the call to be transferred and hang up.
